Legal
Last updated October 24, 2026.
has-a.tech is a free, open-source service for students. This page puts our promises and the legal basics in one place, in plain language. It sits alongside the rules, the privacy policy and the full Terms of Service.
Our promises
- We never store your email address. We use it once to send you a code. How that works
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Our only cookies keep you signed in.
- We never sell or share your data. It's only handled by the services that run the site, listed in the privacy policy.
- Free, always. Nobody will ever ask you for payment details.
- Open source. Every line of code is public, under the MIT License.
Open source
The code for this website and the register is public and released under the MIT License. That means:
- You can read it, fork it, change your copy and reuse it, as long as you keep the copyright and license notice.
- The original repositories are only changed by maintainers, through pull requests that are reviewed in public.
- When you send a pull request, including your domain file, you agree that it's shared under the same MIT License.
The has-a.tech name, logo and domain aren't part of the license. A fork can use the code, but shouldn't present itself as has-a.tech.
Your site is yours
has-a.tech only points your address at a website you host somewhere else, such as GitHub Pages. We don't host, check or endorse what's on your site, and you're responsible for everything on it. Your host's own terms apply too.
Who we're not
has-a.tech is an independent project. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by GitHub, Cloudflare, Resend or any school. Verifying with a school email only shows that you have an address there; it doesn't mean your school supports or reviews your site. Other names and trademarks belong to their owners.
Young people
has-a.tech is for students aged 13 or older. If you're under 13, please don't sign up. If we learn that someone under 13 has verified, we'll delete their verification and remove their name. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete a student's data at any time by writing to verify@has-a.tech.
Copyright and trademark complaints
If a has-a.tech address uses your work or your brand without permission, email abuse@has-a.tech with:
- the has-a.tech address
- what you own and what's being misused
- how to reach you
- a statement that you own the rights, or are allowed to act for the owner
We review every complaint and may remove the name. Because the content lives with the site's host, you may also want to contact them, for example through GitHub's copyright process.
Reporting a security problem
If you find a security weakness in has-a.tech, please email abuse@has-a.tech with "Security" in the subject, and don't share it publicly until it's fixed. Only test with your own accounts, and never access other people's data. We're grateful for every report.
No warranty
We're committed to keeping has-a.tech running for the long term. Like any online service, it can still have the occasional short outage, so it's provided as-is, without any warranty. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for any loss caused by using has-a.tech or by a name being removed.
Changes
If this page changes, we'll update the date at the top. The Terms of Service live in the register repository, so every change to them is public.
